A Saucy Discovery

A Saucy Discovery

Regular readers of this blog know I love Italian food. Since being allergy tested lasted year — the prick test revealed I am allergic to citric acid but not tomatoes — I have made it my mission to find yummy pasta sauces without the citric acid preservative. After many attempts and fails, I discovered Simple Truth Organic Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce.

At first glance, I thought this would be like many food products that boast no preservatives and artificial flavors — bland. But I was very wrong. This non-GMO pasta sauce tastes amazing. I like to add ground beef, seasoning, chopped onions, green bell pepper, and garlic and then serve it over penne pasta. Of note, Simple Truth Organic Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce does have a looser consistency than many other jarred sauces, so be careful if you usually add a little water. But unlike many organic products, this pasta sauce isn’t ridiculously over-priced — it’s in the same pricing ballpark as Ragu and Prego. Citric acid allergy or not, check it out! You won’t regret it, and neither will your digestive system.

Ingredients: Organic tomato puree, organic tomatoes, organic onions, organic basil, organic extra virgin olive oil, organic sugar, salt, organic garlic powder, organic oregano, organic black pepper, organic fennel
