Beauty Find: Aveeno

Beauty Find: Aveeno

One year ago I was addicted to citric acid. It wasn’t an addiction I was aware of. It came to light when my allergist diagnosed me with a citric acid allergy and put me on an elimination diet. I soon realized how pervasive it was in my diet.

Aside from a life-long love of fresh lemon — what’s a cup of tea without it — you could peruse my kitchen cabinets and find many food items that contained this sneaky little additive. Then you could take a trip into my bathroom, and you’d find soaps and shampoos and lotions all containing — you got it — citric acid. I had to make major changes to what I was putting into my body as well as on my skin.

I began researching beauty products online. I considered items suggested by my allergist. I tested many products — Aveeno soon became my favorite go-to brand. Here are three products that I love right now:

Aveeno Ultra Calming Makeup Removing Wipes — One wipe will remove a full face of makeup. They leave my skin feeling refreshed and super clean.

Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Cleansing Pads — A double-sided cleansing pad for double duty. One side is smooth to remove any makeup or dirt from the face, while the other side is textured to exfoliate. After use, I immediately notice the difference — nourished skin.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion — I use this lightweight lotion as an all-over moisturizer and it lasts all day long.

Each item can be found at your local drugstore and work really well on African-American skin. Check them out!
