Welcome But...
When company’s coming, you have to share your space AND your food. I always try to be the hostess with the mostest, but family and friends know that I like things a certain way and they respect that. No dishes in the sink. No glasses on the cocktail table without a coaster. No lights left on in unoccupied rooms. You get the idea. But after being diagnosed with multiple food allergies — some serious — there is now a very important addendum — no peanuts or seafood allowed.
Is this extreme? Probably to those who do not understand that a trace amount of an allergen could land the food allergic in the ER. Is this necessary? Absolutely. Who wants to deep clean all dishes and surfaces after your company has gone home? To all guests, I say … come over … stay a while … but respect my space.
