Where's the Beef?

As a Chicago girl, I love a good ol’ Italian beef. No, not a French dip — there’s a difference. I could eat an Italian beef dipped w/sweet peppers every single week if given the opportunity. My dilemma is that the Italian beef gravy at some of my favorite chains contain MSG (a casualty of my elimination diet). So you can imagine my excitement when I found out that Buona Beef in Chicago does NOT have MSG in their gravy. To be honest, I’m not sure why any beef gravy contains MSG (that’s another blog post), but it does — so, beware. I had only been to Buona Beef once before — and loved it — so I rushed straight there when I was home for Thanksgiving. I ordered a 10” Buona Beef baptized (the entire sandwich is dunked in gravy) w/sweet peppers and a side of french fries. The beef was like a blessing in a bun.
